Create or modify a file control network

Network-attached storage is a file-level storage architecture that makes stored data more accessible to networked devices.

Only one file control network can be created for a system.

Steps

  1. Select a storage system that supports PowerMax File.
  2. Select Data Protection > File Protection.
  3. Select REPLICATION > FILE CONTROL NETWORK.
  4. Click Create to create a file control network or select a file control network and click Modify.

    Modify support is provided for the use cases when you must change the IP address. The change may be needed because an incorrect IP address was assigned or you must use a different IP address.

  5. Type a name and select a network device for each node. Click NEXT.
  6. Type values for Local Cluster IP address. Prefix Length, Gateway, VLAN ID, and Node <1 to N> address (where N is the number of nodes in the cluster). Click NEXT.
    NOTE: For an IP address change within the same VLAN:
    • If the node addresses are modified, you are not required to perform any additional change on the peer side.
    • If the local cluster address is modified, you must modify the remote connection IP address on the peer side to reflect the change.
    NOTE: For a VLAN ID modification:
    • Modify the file control network on source.
    • Modify the file control network on destination.
    • Modify the remote connection on the source.
    • Modify the remote connection on the destination.
  7. Review the summary.
  8. Do one of the following:
    • Click Run Now to perform the operation now.
    • Expand Run Now, and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
